Hat, Hat, Hooray!

Image
It's hat season! Yay! I think my hair looks so pretty under that hat. Why can't it always look like that?  Here's the detail on the side of the hat. Cute, no? And now for a creepy close up... Yikes! A face only a mother could love. Unless you have my mother. She still makes me wear a brown paper bag at the dinner table. Don't feel bad for me because at least now im allowed to poke holes in the bag so i can see my plate... Okay thats not true. Last time I ate dinner with my family it was not around a table. And my mom is super nice! Too nice if you ask me! Enough with the fashion. Where's the food? Isn't this a food blog?   Oh there it is! This was lunch. Very delicious for no real reason. I made two different dishes: ~~~ Whole Foods Greens (frozen kale, collard, and mustard greens) Mix with Italian vegatables(carrots, yellow squash, zuchini, onion, green beans and red pepper) , canned tomatoes and italian seasoning slo...

It's Foggy..Let's Talk Italy (i.e.Food)

Image
One of the reasons my heart is still in Italy... Seriously... This is what it looks like outside. It's not exactly ugly, but Im really not in the mood for fog at 10 am even with my Mint Green tea in hand. Pizza...ooooo... Let's talk Italy. This is one of my favorite pizza's that I ate in Firenze. We went to our regular Sunday meeting (Public talk and Watchtower discussion) in Scandicci and then drove to Certaldo for a special English public talk. After the special English meeting at the Certaldo Kingdom Hall we went to the Osteria da Carlo in Castelfiorentino, Firenze. Every element of this was completely delicious! And yes, I am taking the picture while eating a slice. I was really hungry after eating only a small chocolate gelato for "dinner" in between the two meetings. CERTALDO Certaldo is a midievel town one hour drive from Firenze (Florence). It was a beutiful place! I love how things can be hundreds of years old (or older) in Italy, but nothing feels ...

Yum, Yum Eat Em Up

Image
Do you ever have no idea what to make for dinner? Of course you do. Unless you are a cyborg.. Not that there is anything wrong with that.... So, here's an idea to answer the age old question "What's for dinner?" This infamous question has been asked ever since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Except back then it was more a question of "Who's for dinner?" Who's for dinner? I dunno. Who do you want? I dunno. I was thinking Benny Brontosaurus. Isn't he married to your sister? Yeah, so? Mom can't stand the guy. That's wrong dude! They have an egg in the nest.. I heard the Stegosaurus family is migrating through here for their family reunion. I could eat one of them! Word! Just don't be like Cleopatra! She got so frustrated over what to make Mark Anthony (not to be confused with Marc Anthony although it seems neither one wore pants) for dinner she decided to just sit down and eat a basket of figs. And...well.. You know the rest of that stor...

Fighting off Snow Beasts... w/ Pancakes

Image
Okay...yes...Im back. I was in Italy and then I had severe jet lag. You would not want to read "I hate it here and want to go back to Italy" every day so be happy I wasnt posting with jet lag. SO actually I did you a favor and you owe me one. Let me know when you want to pay me back for that. My cell # is 412-yea-rite.... On to the good stuff... "Who ordered the pancakes with a side of 'augh!'?" And by good stuff I mean complaining about what is going on outside my window and in my house. Namely: snow. Well, I mean the snow is outside but the cold from the snow is inside and that is only partially my fault because I haven't closed the storm windows yet. (Does everyone out there know what storm windows are? Or is that a East Coast thing? I never really know since there is still a tragic war going on between the East and the West. You didn't know about it? You are so sheltered. And if you don't believe me you can read all about it in the...

Its not fall yet! Take that sweater off!

What is it about August that makes people run out and put on sweaters? It is still hovering in the mid-80s yet people are acting like the advent of August suddenly made temperatures sweater-worthy. I don't get it. Maybe after all the swealter heat that made everyone undeniably uncomfortable people are longing for cooler temps and the sweet comfort a cozy sweater provides. But this is not a fashion blog, so, lets talk food! Sunday I ate a restaurant that made me wish I was going to be in Spain for more than a few hour layover. Some friends and I went to a restaurant called Barcelona. The visit got off to a bumpy start due to the lack of dollar signs on the menu. But the ambiance of the place and beautiful view of the river and marina was enough distraction to lower the pulse. I will be going back to this place, but it will definitely be during lunch time. They served 3 kinds of bread with pesto and an olive tapenade as well as spanish potatoes instead of just the...

This is what it looks like above my desk: The old workplace is getting a much needed face lift so, although it is rather noisey and disruptive, Im trying to see the end afterward. The dental department is already done and looks seriously fabulous and totally state of the art. Ive been MIA due to some serious trip planning, hosting a little Soergels farm/ JW Historical Tour of Pgh, and tryine to keep everyone from stressing out.
